WHO WE ARE
PATH Legal is a social justice law firm dedicated to removing barriers to justice for people facing marginalization across Atlantic Canada. Founded in 2022 by Emma Halpern and Mike Dull, we provide compassionate, inclusive, and accessible legal services rooted in dignity, respect, and care.
Our team supports clients in matters ranging from prison advocacy and administrative law to restorative justice initiatives, always centring healing, safety, and self-determination. Beyond individual advocacy, we teach, mentor, and collaborate with community organizations, legal partners, and people with lived experience to advance systemic change — inside the courtroom and far beyond it.
OUR PRACTICE AREAS
CLASS ACTIONS
PATH Legal advances class actions focused on systemic harm, institutional accountability, and access to justice. Our work seeks meaningful remedies for class members while also pushing for broader change in the systems that affect people in custody and communities facing marginalization.
OUR PARTNERS
Meaningful change is collaborative. PATH Legal works alongside community organizations, legal partners, advocates, and people with lived experience to respond to injustice and advance systemic change.
Our close connection with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia reflects our commitment to community-rooted legal advocacy. Together with EFMNS and other partners, we work to challenge harmful systems, improve access to justice, and build safer, more accountable institutions.

Taking the first step can be difficult. Our intake process is designed to be simple, respectful, and trauma-informed. You can share what has happened, identify what matters most to you, and tell us what kind of support you are looking for.
From there, we will review your information and help identify possible next steps. Where we are able to assist, we will provide clear information about options, timelines, and what you can expect. If we are not the right fit, we will do our best to point you toward other resources.
